Welcome to the Yorkshire Countrywomen

Thank you for visiting our Website which we hope you will find both interesting and informative.

If this is your first visit and you would like to know a little more about us, then please go to our 'Who Are We?' section on the left hand side of the page.  However, if you would like to know a little more of what's been happening recently then please read on ........

We have just held our Annual General Meeting at Askham Bryan College of Agriculture where Sir Gary Verity gave an inspirational and informative talk.  He regailed many 'behind the scenes' stories of how he persuaded the organisers of Le Tour de France to start the race in Yorkshire - 'Gods Own County' He also gave an insight into the Tour de Yorkshire that now takes place each year and took alot of bombardment from our members asking if their village/town could be included in next year's event!

We are busy preparing our rag rug kits to take to the Countryside Days event in Harrogate. This is run by the educational section of the Yorkshire Agricultural Society and allows school children to try new skills and experiences that perhaps they wouldn't otherwise have the opportunity to do.  These range from our rag rugging to army assault courses, talks by vets, the food chain, circus skills, dry stone walling to name but a few.

During the summer months we will also be at the Great Yorkshire Show in the Discovery Tent , North Yorkshire Show, Driffield Show and Tockwith Show so if you are at any of these events, please feel free to call by, we'd love to see you.

In August, we are holding our Yorkshire Day event at Tennants in Leyburn where members will be enjoying lunch followed by a talk by Rodney Tennant.

Make sure you see our News and Events Section for details of forthcoming events.

If you think you would enjoy being part of the YCA family and would like to join a nearby Branch or even start a new Branch in your village, please contact Gill or Joan at Central Office on 01904 451 581 or email: ycwa@centraloffice.wanadoo.co.uk.

We would love to have your feedback and comments on the contents of our website.  Please email Gill or Joan at the above email.
