Who Are We?

A group of ladies who live in Yorkshire of all ages, all with different talents and interests mergining into 103 branches throughout the county from Redcar in the North to Firbeck in the South and Cragg Vale in the West to Hornsea in the East.

Whether your interests are crafts, competitions, holidays or outings, gardening or just fun and friendship, we hope we offer something to suit all tastes.

Branches meet in various local venues, or even a member's own home once a month for a get-together or to be entertained by a speaker or demonstrator.

In addition Central Committee organise several events which bring members from all Ridings together. These include our AGM in May with a guest speaker, Autumn Meeting in October, which is purely a social event with two speakers, culminating at the end of the year with our County Carol Service in York Minster. Our members also like to get together on Yorkshire Day to celebrate.  In previous years, we have celebrated at Ryedale Folk Museum Hutton-le-Hole, Harewood House, Burton Agnes Hall and had a Grande Chic Picnique with fashion show and floral demonstration. In 2016 we will be celebrating at Tennants Auction House in Leyburn and combining this with a toast to Her Majesty The Queen for her 90th birthday.

One of our more traditional events is our Annual Craft Competition for YCA members which includes classes for photography, poetry, card making, cross stitch, knitting, patchwork, floristry, cookery and many more.

The Affiliation fee to the Association is £10 per year per member, and each Branch levies a subscription to cover its own running costs. Assets of a Branch are vested in the Branch individually and are not subject to control by either the Central or Riding Committee.

The Central Office is run by our two Secretaries, Joan Dunwell and Gill Falkingham. Gill and Joan were appointed in March 2004 and deal with the general day to day running of the office and members' enquiries. This is the hub of the Association. All branch records, mailing lists, literature production, correspondence and the organization of county events is carried out here

The office is manned between 10 am and 3 pm, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and we are here to help with members' queries. If you need any advice or information just give Gill or Joan a ring as they will be only too pleased to help. You can find us and meet members at shows during the Summer and other events where we have stands.  Please see Agricultural Shows and Events.
