October 26, 2016
To be held at Manor CE Academy, Millfield Lane, Nether Poppleton York 11 am - 4 pm.
Ann Wall and Eileen Brereton will be giving a talk entitled 'Home Comforts' about the Red Cross WWI auxillary hospitals in the North Riding between 1914 - 1919 together with a hands-on exhibition of medical and nursing artefacts.
In the afternoon Jillian Haslam will inspire us with her story of 'An Irrepressible Mind!'. Today Jillian is a professional and successful business woman ..... but her life as a child and young adult was far removed from that. Born to British parents, she grew up in India where the family lost four siblings to malnutrition and starvation. Yet she managed to help her family out of the slum and out of the country. Her inner strength and ability to overcome the worst of situations is something that never ceases to inspire those who learn about her story.
Tickets are priced at £12.00 and can be obtained from Central Office.Back
